Career Highlights:

I have been a nurse educator since 2014. I have administered, developed, and taught online courses in both nursing administration and nursing education master's programs. I am a certified online instructional designer and online course evaluator. I review content for Merlot and Qualitative Health Research.

    Students should meet the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Master’s Essentials and the National League for Nursing Nurse Educator Core Competencies.

  • Why are you interested in education? What drew you to this field?

    My years as a nurse and as a nursing student have motivated me to improve nursing education courses.

  • What qualities make someone particularly successful as a teacher?

    My own experience in synchronous and asynchronous learning allowed me to understand the online learning environment from a student perspective. This has enabled me to develop meaningful student-centered learning experiences.

  • What do you think is the biggest challenge that educators face today?

    Engaging students in online education.

  • What advice would you give to those considering a USM online education program?

    Your online courses prepare you to meet the competencies of the National League for Nursing Nurse Educator and prepare you to sit for nurse educator certification. USM online courses are developed by nurses experienced in the field and by instructional designers to ensure quality learning experiences.
